What changes when your company is in Canada
A company that signs up from Canada starts this way. You can also set the country yourself in Settings.
- Tax
- GST, HST, QST, PST or RST on quotes and invoices. Pick your province and the rates fill in. Your GST/HST number prints on the PDF.
- Money
- Canadian dollars on every quote and invoice, shown as $.
- Weather
- Forecasts and daily logs in °C.
- Addresses
- Suggestions come from Canada, not the US.
- Morning email
- Weekdays at 6 AM your time.
- Area
- Acres by default. Switch to hectares in Settings.
Lot lines by province
Type the address and, where provincial records are available, the lot outline loads on the satellite map. Where they are not, trace the lot yourself.
| Province | Lot lines |
|---|---|
| Alberta | Trace the lot on satellite |
| British Columbia | Load from provincial records |
| Manitoba | Load in some municipalities. Trace the rest. |
| New Brunswick | Load from provincial records |
| Newfoundland and Labrador | Trace the lot on satellite |
| Northwest Territories | Trace the lot on satellite |
| Nova Scotia | Load from provincial records |
| Nunavut | Trace the lot on satellite |
| Ontario | Trace the lot on satellite |
| Prince Edward Island | Load from provincial records |
| Quebec | Load from provincial records |
| Saskatchewan | Trace the lot on satellite |
| Yukon | Trace the lot on satellite |
Canadian lots show the outline and size, not the owner's name. Either way the acreage is measured from the shape, not guessed.
Sales tax on the quote
Pick your province in Settings and the rates fill in: HST in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces, GST and QST in Quebec, GST and PST in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, GST and RST in Manitoba, GST alone in Alberta and the territories. Each new quote and invoice starts with them, and you can change the tax on any one of them.
Example job
- Subtotal
- $3,000.00
- HST (13%)
- $390.00
- Total
- $3,390.00
Rates are each province's general rate as of November 2026. You can change them, and it is worth checking with your accountant which ones apply to your work.
Price
$149 USD a month flat, unlimited users. Billed in US dollars when you subscribe on the web. If you subscribe on an iPhone, Apple charges its own Canadian price.
Pause from Settings and you keep working until the end of the month you already paid for. After that there is no charge, and your jobs, photos, and invoices stay put, read-only, until you resume. Nothing is deleted.
What it does not do
- The app is in English only.
- MulchDeck does not file your GST/HST return. Keep your accounting software.
- Your data is stored in the United States.
Questions from Canadian contractors
Does MulchDeck work in Canada?
Yes. Sign up from Canada and your company starts in Canadian dollars in the web app. Quotes and invoices carry GST, HST, QST, PST or RST with province presets, and your GST/HST number prints on the PDF. Forecasts read in °C and the crew email lands at 6 AM your time on weekdays.
Can I charge HST?
Yes. Pick Ontario and HST 13% fills in. On a $3,000.00 job that is $390.00 of HST and a $3,390.00 total. You can change the rate, or the tax on any single quote or invoice.
Does it handle QST in Quebec?
Yes. Pick Quebec and you get two lines, GST 5% and QST 9.975%. Both are worked out on the subtotal, not one on top of the other, which is how Quebec has charged them since 2013. Each is rounded to the cent on its own.
Is the price in Canadian dollars?
No. The plan is $149 USD a month, billed in US dollars when you subscribe on the web. If you subscribe on an iPhone, Apple charges its own Canadian price. Your own quotes and invoices are in Canadian dollars.
Do lot lines load in Ontario?
Not yet. In Ontario you trace the lot on satellite and the acreage is measured from your outline. Lot lines load from provincial records in Quebec, BC, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI.
Can I use hectares?
Yes. Companies start in acres. Switch to hectares in Settings and areas and rates follow.
